This lecture-style training course
supplies skills for
modern analysis of macromolecules molar mass and property
distributions, using gel permeation chromatography (GPC), a.k.a. size
exclusion chromatography (SEC).
The 4-hour program offers the
fundamental
aspects of the GPC/SEC separation technique, with a balanced view of
both, the
advantages and limitations of GPC/SEC (stand-alone or hyphenated with
light scattering, viscometry, and other techniques). See Table of contents
and/or take survey
Key Topics
- Key Concepts in Polymer Synthesis and
Liquid Chromatography techniques (GPC/SEC/HPLC)
- Fundamentals of GPC, separation
mechanism, objectives
- Experimental set-up parameters; Modern
GPC Column Trends, Column Selection
- Best Practice in GPC Method Development
Instrument qualifications
- Calibration methods; How to be more
successful and productive in GPC
- Novel Approaches in Copolymer analysis,
multidetection and coupling with hyphenated techniques

How you will benefit from
this course
- It equips you to
produce and analyze data; to qualify the condition of the analytical
system and separation columns; to optimize the application conditions
and
the work flow in the lab.
- You will receive practical advice to get
reproducible
and accurate separations.
- Learn tricks of the trade to enhance
your systems precision and sensitivity, as well as
troubleshooting strategies
- The webcast offering provides a new
way to learn from the convenience of your home, office, or lab.
Without the added expense of travel, you can take advantage of
top-quality continuing education without completely draining your
budget.

Who should attend
This
course is designed for analysts, managers and researchers who currently
use GPC in a laboratory This entry level course focuses on providing
and improving their
overall skills set. It is most useful when you have at least some
hands-on GPC experience.

Webcast (899-00WEB)
Participants can attend the online sessions from home, work, or the
lab;
anywhere with a computer with internet access and a phone that can call
a toll-free number, without the need to travel
In each scheduled session, participants view live class presentations
over the internet. They interact with the instructor and their
classmates and listen to the lecture over a secure conference call.
- Courses take place over a
period of 1 or 2 weeks to allow you the time to apply new concepts and
really
absorb the information.
- The course will meet online for three
webcast sessions from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m pm Eastern Time (9:30
a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time).
- QA periods are scheduled at the
begining
and end of the second and third weeks. The breaks between
sessions are designed ensure a good understanding of key topics; you
have time between sessions to review what you’ve learned and come back
to class with your burning questions to the QA before the second and
third
session.
- A secure customized web page provides
links to all the class materials like lecture slides and supplemental
materials.
- System Requirements
You need
a high-speed connection to the Internet and an up-to-date
version of your Web browser (Internet explorer is preferred). For the
audio portion of the live session, we will use a telephone conference
call for attendees from the U.S. and Canada. You will need a phone near
your computer capable of making long distance phone calls to a 1-800
number. A hands-free or speaker phone is highly recommended.
